A familiar kind of photo problem
FotoQuokka is for the collection that has grown across phones, computers, external drives and folders called “backup.”
A phone backup here. A family album there. Import from several folders into one library, organized by the dates and details available.
Start with one folderCompare a folder with the whole library by size and file hash. See matched, missing and unresolved files. Import supported missing media without copying confirmed matches again.
Understand verificationGroup undated photos by location or original folder. Review them together, then add dates, places, events and custom fields to selected files.

A simple path through a big collection
Start small. Verify the result. Add the next folder when you’re ready.
Choose the source and your library. Queue multiple folders and use the organization and naming setup that works for you.
Re-read source and library content. Review missing or unreadable files, and compare a visual sample if you want another look.
See exact matches side by side. Choose a copy to keep and reverify content before moving unwanted extras to quarantine.
Keep originals, use a separate archive destination, or review cleanup. Backup and cloud-upload status are separate from import verification.
A little less “where did I put it?”
An illustrative example. Your actual results depend on file metadata, access and the options you choose.

A closer look
Browse the library, resolve missing information and see the evidence behind your cleanup decisions.
Confidence comes from knowing what was checked
“Finished processing” and “every file verified” are different things. FotoQuokka keeps those results separate.
Read the verification guideFull checks compare size and SHA-256 content hashes, including identical files saved under different names.
Unavailable sources, unreadable content and changes during a scan remain visible. A disconnected source is never presented as freshly verified.
Visual samples and similarity suggestions help your review. They do not replace full hash checks or prove that different photos are interchangeable.
Copy checks describe a selected scope at a recorded time. Keep a recoverable backup, and check OneDrive’s upload status separately when using its synced folder.
A little order. A lot of memories.
One organized home for your photos and videos, with clear verification before cleanup.

Organizing and verification run on your Windows PC and the drives you choose. No photo upload is required for those tasks. If you choose a OneDrive backup destination, OneDrive handles uploading the local backup according to your own OneDrive settings.
Source handling follows Import Setup. Choose the option that leaves originals in place for your first test. Missing-file jobs created from verification leave originals in place and skip confirmed identical content. Review any move or cleanup choice carefully.
Yes, when Windows can access the selected folders. Full source-to-library verification needs the source drives connected. You can locate originals that moved, or run a clearly labeled library-only check against saved import hashes.
Review exact matches, choose a keeper, then select a separate quarantine destination. Content is checked again before moving extras. Recover from quarantine without overwriting occupied paths. Similarity suggestions alone never trigger automatic removal.
The beta includes a HEIC image decoder and manages supported video formats. Video previews depend on Windows thumbnail support; use Open file / video for playback in your installed player. Comparing a video thumbnail does not verify every frame.
Yes. Folder & Naming Setup supports date, place, event and custom fields such as Project. Preview the naming structure, skip empty details and review proposed changes before organizing existing copies.
Not yet. The public download is not available yet. Trial licensing and the ability to grant extensions are on the pending enhancement list.
No. It is a working beta tested with local fixtures. Different NAS connections, media formats and library histories still need broader testing. No promise of permanent data safety replaces a recoverable backup and checking the scope of a verification report.
